Peggy Medina- Artist Statement

My work is influenced by my love of ancient history and architecture.  It is also important to me that the work has something to say.  I like it to contain a narrative or social commentary preferably with a sense of humor. 

I have been creating ceramic boxes with painted finishes.  These use press molds of popular culture figures.  "The Rant Series" adds text to comment on various current topics.

Recently, I am fascinated with the interaction of man-made and organic forms.  I'm striving to capture the conflict and connection between the two.
